The Power of Branding - a simple observation while off to lunch

So my office is located on Sunset Boulevard in the heart of Sunset Plaza in West Hollywood. It's a beautiful part of Sunset Boulevard and you can pretty much walk anywhere within reason - after all it is LA.
Every day I take a brisk walk to lunch, and I usually pass by two hair salons. We will call them Business A and Business B. My firm Flat 6 Concepts, is in the business of branding and everyday I try to convince my clients to spend a little more in their branding efforts, since it adds value to their company, and will pay off many times over in the future.   Most of my clients get it, and invest wisely and then there are the others who opt for plan B - no pun intended here.
Now going back to my two hair salons - Business A and Business B.... These two businesses offer the same exact service, offer the same exact price for the service they provide,  and they are located within roughly 1000 feet from each other on the same side of the street. One chose not to brand itself, opting for an inexpensive generic sign,  and the other invested properly in their visual communication and design. I assume both are in it to make money. In the interest of full disclosure,  Flat 6 Concepts, has not developed the branding elements for either of the companies shown here.
My question to you is if you have never visited either of these salons,  which one would you choose to visit? Which one would you entrust your coiffure to? Business A or Business B?  Again we must not forget we are talking visuals here - obviously either of them may offer a better hair styling experience but how would you know without ever visiting? If I was a woman with long hair and I was driving by I would not have a problem deciding.
If Business B decided to drop their price then they would have an edge over the competition but again, would $5 less be the selling point? $10? $15 anyone?  ... I highly doubt any woman would want to experiment how their hair will look for a hot date on a Friday night to save a few dollars. I am sure both businesses offer a decent service, but I am a visual guy so for me it's crystal clear.
Ahhh the Power of Branding.
It takes the guesswork out of my everyday choices.
